Synopsis

Te Deum pour l'avènement au Trône de Léopold I.

Etienne Carathéodory Effendi reports about the Te Deum in honour of regnal day, the anniversary of the ascension to the throne of King Leopold I, celebrated on July 21st. Present were King Leopold II, Prince Philippe of Belgium (Count of Flanders and brother of Leopold II), Prince Baudouin of Belgium (nephew of Leopold II), and their civil and military households. Queen Marie-Henriette and the Countess of Flanders, Marie of Hohenzollern-Sigmaringen, had not left their vacation spot in Ostend, because of the hot weather. Carathéodory enumerates the other people present, among whom the diplomatic corps, and notes where they were seated in the Cathedral.
