Synopsis

Situation intérieure de la Belgique. - Politique

Essad Bey reports that, in the Belgian parliament, the socialists and the liberals entered into a coalition with each other, in order to form a strong opposition against the Catholics. Their first united action would be the demand of pure universal suffrage. Essad Bey explains that, in Belgium, universal suffrage was combined with plural votes, which assured the supremacy of the Catholics. Pure universal suffrage would diminish the power of the Catholics. The united opposition was determined to reach its goal. At a secret meeting, the opposition leaders even planned an impressive demonstration in Brussels.
