Synopsis

Arrivée du nouveau Ministre de France à Bruxelles

Etienne Carathéodory Effendi reports that Albert Bourée, son of the French ex-ambassador in Istanbul, replaced Count Montebello as the French minister in Brussels. Immediately after his audience with King Leopold II, Bourée visited his colleagues. Carathéodory established the relations between the Ottoman legation and the diplomat, whom he considers to be friendly and distinguished. Bourée used to be minister plenipotentiary in Peking during the Convention of Peking, but he had been called back by Jules Ferry. Thereafter, he was the French minister in Denmark. Now he traded Copenhagen for Brussels. King Leopold II and the Belgian government were glad with the choice of the new French minister.
