Synopsis

Démission du Ministre de la Guerre de Belgique.

The Belgian Minister of War, General Brassine, resigned because the government refused to present the bill on personal military service that would abolish the military replacement system. This caused commotion in military circles. Etienne Carathéodory Effendi notes that it seemed so sure that the bill concerning personal military service would pass. He blames the conservative anti-military Catholics for having pressured the government. No general wanted to accept the portfolio of War. Consequently, the Minister of Railways, Post Services and Telegraph Services became Minister of War ad interim. This crisis did not leave a good impression on the public opinion.
