Synopsis

Fête Royale du 15 novembre.

Etienne Carathéodory Effendi informs Saïd Pacha about the celebration of the name day of King Leopold II on November 15th. The demonstrations they feared for, in honour of universal suffrage, did not take place. The committees of the workmen’s party decided to wait for the parliamentary debates. The Te Deum was attended by the royal family (except King Leopold II himself), and all the constituted corpses of the state. As usual, there was an official diplomatic dinner after the Te Deum. Carathéodory reports about the sudden death of Bayet, the first president of the Court of Cassation, which ended the banquet in a minor key. The planned reception did not take place.
