Synopsis

Te Deum du 21 juillet.

In his report, Etienne Carathéodory Effendi mentions the people present at the Te Deum in honour of regnal day, the anniversary of the ascension to the throne of King Leopold I, celebrated on July 21st. Carathéodory reminds Saïd Pacha that King Leopold II never attended the Te Deum on his name day (on November 15th), but that he attended the Te Deum to celebrate the day his father, Leopold I, took his oath and started the dynasty. Also present were Queen Marie-Henriette and Prince Baudouin of Belgium (nephew of Leopold II). The Count and Countess of Flanders were absent, because they were taking a hydropathic cure in Mont Dore in Auvergne. The complete diplomatic corps attended the Te Deum. Also present were the government, the high civil and military officials, and the big corpses of the state.
