Scission du parti libéral. Séance de la Chambre des représentants. - Une annexe.
Etienne Carathéodory Effendi reports about an incident in the Belgian House of Representatives, between the liberal Prime Minister, Walthère Frère-Orban, and the leader of the so-called extreme left (the progressive liberals), Paul Janson. Their discussion, started by Janson, ended in agitation. Carathéodory remarks that the governing liberals only had a small majority. Consequently, if the radical liberals voted with the right (the Catholics), this could lead to the fall of the government. Frère-Orban informed Carathéodory about this situation. During their conversation, Frère-Orban expressed his discouragement and his fear for the future of the liberal party, as the unrealistic demands of the extreme left wing increased the pressure. (In attachment is a reproduction of the incident during the debates.)
