Synopsis

Nomination de Sir Savile Lumley comme ambassadeur à Rome.

Etienne Carathéodory Effendi reports that Sir Savile Lumley, the British minister in Brussels, was appointed to become the ambassador in Rome, where he would replace Sir Paget. The latter would retire because of old age. Carathéodory praises Sir Savile Lumley’s qualities and notes that he would be missed. Furthermore, he remarks that Sir Savile Lumley had real and profound sympathies for the Ottoman Empire. Probably, Sir Malet, who was the Consul-General in Egypt, would become the new British ambassador in Brussels.
