Synopsis

Le mariage de la Princesse Stéphanie - 2 annexes.

The Belgian newspapers were filled with news about the marriage between the Belgian Princess Stéphanie and Archduke Rudolf, Crown Prince of Austria-Hungary. Their marriage was celebrated in Vienna with great splendour. Etienne Carathéodory Effendi notes that Belgium was very proud. He sees it as a reinforcement of the moral power of Belgium, that – although being a small country – deserved its place within the European Concert, because of its sense of liberty, order, legality, etc. Carathéodory adds that he conveyed his congratulations to the Belgian King and Queen. (Enclosed is a copy of Carathéodory’s telegram and the reply he received from Jules Devaux.)
