Etienne Carathéodory Effendi reports about the debates in the Belgian House of Representatives in reaction to the King’s speech from the throne. The tempestuous discussions about the rupture of the relations between the (liberal) Belgian government and the Vatican lasted two weeks. (The enclosed discourse of Prime Minister and Minister for Foreign Affairs, Frère-Orban, and the discourse of opposition leader, Malou, are not photographed.)
