Synopsis

Ouverture de l'exposition internationale de l'industrie

Etienne Carathéodory Effendi reports about the inauguration of the international industrial exposition (at the Palais du Midi in Brussels) by King Leopold II and Queen Marie-Henriette. The presence of the diplomatic corps and the civil and military authorities added lustre to the solemn occasion. Almost all industrial branches were represented. Carathéodory was proud to report that not only the industrial leaders France, England and Austria-Hungary, but also the Ottoman Empire were represented at the exposition. This exposition formed the prelude to a series of festivities in honour of the fiftieth anniversary of the Belgian independence. On June 15, there would be a big national exposition.
