Synopsis

Le vol de la Banque de Belgique

Etienne Carathéodory Effendi reports about the misappropriation of funds of the Banque de Belgique. The criminal, who was on his way to America, could be arrested at Queenstown. The Belgian authorities arranged his extradition. Carathéodory expresses the fear that the arrest would reveal compromising information. It was also unclear how big the bank’s losses would be. (It was an important bank of many industrial associations.) This incident caused the bank’s shares to devaluate. Carathéodory explains the measurements that would be taken in order to save the bank.
