Evènements de la Salonique
Thanks to Rachid Pacha’s telegram on Salonica, Etienne Carathéodory Effendi was able to inform the Belgian government on recent events in Salonica. The Belgian government had a lot of faith in the Sublime Porte’s disciplinary actions, as those would avert new demonstrations that could cause unrest. Carathéodory notes that he had a double feeling about these events (because of his Greek roots). He seemed touched by the condolences of the Belgian government, their officials and the high society of Brussels.
