The diplomatic corps officially received Belgian’s new papal nuncio, Vannutelli, according to the custom rules. Carathéodory Effendi notes that Vannutelli invited him and the rest of the Ottoman legation’s personnel to attend the official ceremony the day after. Etienne Carathéodory Effendi adds that Vannutelli was considered to be one of the Curia’s most intelligent and most distinguished prelates.
